A critical phase in any astronomical observation involves a proper focus routine, which in simple terms means a controlled defocusing in steps, in order to minimize the star sizes. In order to achievege last, we can make use of Bathinov mask to manual focus or, even better an electronic automatic focusing system.
EAF is a must have for any serious astrophotography setup. It can be connected to an external temperature sensor to automatically trigger focus routines over the observing session. In “Cluster One Observatory” we use the ZWO EAF unit with temperature sensor.
